Clinic Staff:
Al Dirschberger, Head Coach, Niagara University
Al Dirschberger will be returning for his 21st season as head coach of the Niagara University softball team. Over the
span of 19 seasons, Dirschberger has compiled a 312-442 record, earning berths into 11 of 20 MAAC Tournaments,
while producing eight 20-win seasons. Dirschberger has had two MAAC Player of the Year honorees, three MAAC
Rookies of the Year, 33 Purple Eagles earn All-MAAC accolades and 79 earn MAAC All-Academic honors.
Dirschberger also mentored Felicia Coffey, who earned a spot on the 2008 NFCA/Louisville Slugger Northeast All-
Regional Second Team and a spot on the 2008 ECAC All-Star Second Team. The longest-tenured coach at Niagara
has been honored as MAAC Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2007. Dirschberger won his first Coach of the Year honor
after a 10-6 finish in the MAAC, good for second place. Dirschberger won his second Coach of the Year honors after
another 10-6 finish in the MAAC, which was good for third place.
Sean Cotter, Head Coach, UMASS Lowell
Cotter begins his first year at UMASS Lowell after spending the last 10 years at Plattsburgh State. Cotter compiled an
overall record of 254-172 which included 10 straight appearances in the State University of NY Athletic Conference
Tournament, Two SUNYAC regular season titles, Two NCAA Tournament appearances, and one SUNYAC
Tournament championship. In 2007 he guided the Cardinals to a 3714 overall record the NCAA Division III Northeast
Region Championship and a forth-place showing at the Division III Softball World Series.
Michael Bosch, Assistant Coach Syracuse University
2010 & 2011 Big East Champions
A National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Coach of the Year, Mike Bosch brings 13 years of head
coaching experience and an impressive resume to the Orange softball staff starting his 2nd year as the Orange
pitching coach. Prior to joining the SU staff, Bosch spent the past 13 seasons as head coach at Iowa Lakes
Community College in Estherville, IA where he built the program into a perennial contender with two NJCAA Division II
National Championship appearances in his final three seasons. While at Iowa Lakes, Bosch produced 28 All-
Americans and 81 all-region selections while compiling a 525-236-2 overall record.
Gregory Dale, Duke University - Professor of Sports Psychology & Sports Ethics
Dale is also the director of Mental Training and Co-Director of the Leadership Program for Duke Athletics. In addition
to his work with Duke Athletics. In addition to his work with Duke Athletes and coaches, Greg consults with numerous
college and professional athletes and teams as well as corporate groups.
Greg has written three books related to leadership and performance. In addition, he has written scripts and served as
the Au Expert, on a series of eleven videos for coaches and athletes. Greg has been featured on Good Morning
America, MSNBC and numerous national radio programs. He is a member of the sport Psychology Staff for USA track
and field and is a dynamic speaker who provides a variety of interactive and innovative workshops around the country.
Paige Smith, Head Coach Adelphi University
Smith begins her 5th season as Head coach in 2012. She has compile a career record of 134-84. In Smith's first
season with the Panthers, the team set a new school record for wins (Division II) compiling 41 victories with just 21
losses. With that, they earned a trip to the NCAA Northeast Regional Tournament making it to the third round. Smith
had three Daktronics All-Region players, six All-Conference honorees including the ECC Pitcher of the Year, an ECAC
DII All-Star, four Louisville Slugger/NFCA selections and two ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honorees.
